    OK Go - »Netting/Getting«

It’s them again. The only band in the world that seems to take much more care about their video than (boring) audio. Until now!? Until they finally combined both in perfection and a spectacular way - I have to admit. Who’s managing these guys? Give this person some kind of Marketing Grammy. Make him rich. Make him quit. And make him promise that this is the last music video of OK Go forever. Please guys, go become producers for brilliant commercials, but stop selling us another marketing stunt in the name of »viral music videos«. Thanks.

The new music video from OK Go, made in partnership with Chevrolet. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck.

Sesame Street: OK Go - »Three Primary Colors«

Hey (big) kids! OK Go teamed up with Sesame Street explaining the principles of color basics in a stop-motion-stylee.  There is a “OK Go Color” game too! But: People are already discussing that this is just not true. Go find your local DA group (Designers Anonymous) for a vivid discussion about »Red/ Green/Blue« and »Cyan/Yellow/Magenta«…

Anyway, next: Sesame Street teaming up with Living Color, Rainbow, Great White and Black Sabbath.

    Signal To Noise

Time-lapse footage taken at the Very Large Array in Socorro, New Mexico; one of the largest Radio Astronomy Observatories in the world. As a learning exercise, and something to challenge myself, I wanted to try to combine two of my favorite things: motion-graphics and time-lapse photography.

Dear Douglas, iIn my humble opinion: call this a success.

I also wanted to see if I could stretch my editing techniques a little further. The VLA really is a legitimately amazing thing to see in person. If you’ve ever considered making a visit, you should. It’s an awe-inspiring feat of human engineering, and the surroundings are gorgeous. Unbelievable skies in New Mexico. I caught some nasty weather, but it was still a great experience. I’m definitely going back!
