Spotify is just a distribution scheme. Just a tool, like a computer. If you’re bitching about the computer, wishing we’d all go back to paper and ink, I feel sorry for you, life today must be very hard. People want access. He who grants access for a low fee, making tons of revenue by charging everyone a little, the cell phone model, will win in the future. WE’RE FINALLY PLAYING THIS GAME IN MUSIC AND YOU WANT TO KILL IT?

    Digster

… is a service that publishes playlists you can listen to through Spotify or download from iTunes. Our team of editorsuse their expert knowledge of the best new and classic tracks to compile playlists to suit any mood or situation, so whether you are looking for a soundtrack to the party of the century or background music for a romantic night in, Digster can help you find the perfect playlist.

Sounds good? Well, at least it looks a bit boring.

Digster is operated by Universal Music, but our playlists feature music from all record labels so you will hear the hottest artists regardless of who they are signed to. You can also find Digster on Facebook!

Wait? Universal Music? What’s the saying? If you can’t beat them, join them!

P.S.: Being a heavy Spotify user and probably a superior music lover I actually appreciate every recommendation system for the the best music service around. cc/ sharemyplaylists.com

Spotify says hello to the iPod. In your face, Apple. What’s next?

Congratulations. Spotify reaches one million subscribers. I can’t imagine to live just one day without your service. That said: please don’t stop sharpening your service. There is long list of features I’m really missing especially when it comes to the Desktop App and it’s library functionalities, etc.pp. Nevermind, for now: cheers!

“It’s a sad day for users.” As we had one over here in Germany in 2010 when Spotify stopped negotiating with the local rights-holders. That said I thank whatever god there is for every single day I am able to use my account, that I really love spending my money on.

Do you know wearehunted.com? It’s a nice service looking out for the “emerging artists and songs and remixes andandand…” all around the social Interwebs in real time, delivering the right blog post mp3 or Youtube video as the basis. Good job. What’s new (for me) is: the Spotify version of We Are Hunted, which works just great. Because the thing is: When it’s hard to find the right blog covering your taste and monitoring all the different sources, it’s even harder to have access to 80% of all the music around (released through regular label networks) and then trying to figure out what you want to hear. My habbit: listening to good old classic rock, haha. But now there is a Spotify version of We Are Hunted und what should I say: check it out if you’re A Spotify customer, discover new music and don’t hesitate do give them feedback or fresh ideas!

And yes, they are on Tumblr too.

50 BEST NEW BANDS OF 2010

The NME created a list of “50 best new bands of 2010”. We all don’t wanna know why. Now. In August. It’s the NME. And we all don’t care, because the good thing is, that Sasson Mansoori already build a Spotify playlist with most of the featured albums.

But hey, don’t be sad when you’re not part of the inner Spotify circle. Because there is also a nice Soundcloud Set do discover stuff or just listen to this years favourite songs. Enjoy.

Btw, best band is… Best Coast. I totally agree as long as this decision is based on this wonderful wonderful song/video:

(Tumblr Dashboard readers, click through to the original blog post. You’re missing everything due to the lack of support by Tumblr for Soundcloud embeds especially and in text in general.)

Just discovered the Spotify Extension for the Google Chrome browser. It’s very simple but highly effective and comfortable. Use your mouse to highlight the text with the name of an artist or group in any web page. Click on the extension’s icon to listen to their music on Spotify. That’s it. And Iike it. No: Love it.

    (Click through for bigger picture.)

OMG: Since this morning Spotify is also available for Symbian mobile phones such as my Nokia N95 8GB. Feels like heaven and works just perfectly with just slight problems while getting a phone call when listening to music. But who cares. Reconnect and enjoy the (technically) best thing that happend to music since the beginning of flash player-based music on the internet. You need a premium subscription of course. Money well invested though there are some troubles about how Spotify shares their money with the artists. What do you think about that?

Spotify users should definitely have an eye on the Facebook fanpage of swiss magazin Finger as they deliver playlists arranged by artists such as Emily The Great or Tracey Thorn (those were the last two) f.e. under the motto ” Songs To Remember” et al.

Finger is a bi-annual print publication that comes with 64 pages and a circulation of 6000 copies distributed worldwide. It delivers a whole magazine full of lists. “Which song do you listen to when you wake up? Which song shall be played at your funeral? Which are your 5 favorite books? What is your favorite movie?” and many more ideas. There is also a podcast you should consider to subscribe to.
