Wye Oak - Civilian
One word, lots of space in between the letters: a m a z i n g.
The new (third) Wye Oak album (also named “Civilian”) will be out on March 7, 2011, (March 4 in Germany and Austria) on City Slang. Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack wrote it between December of 2009 and July of 2010. The songs “are, as a whole, about aloneness (the positive kind), loneliness (the horrible kind), moving on, and letting go (of people, places, and things). 21st-century folk music, imbued with dense shoegaze guitars, nearly melodic rhythms, and impeccable splashes of electronic color.” That’s what the record company says and you can trust me when I say: trust them. Wye Oak is Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack, btw. They play a free showcase in Berlin on January the 17th at the Michelberger Hotel. You didn’t hear that from me!
